Pine Meadow Golf Club, is a Public, 18 hole golf course located in Mundelein, Illinois.
The 18 hole design was done by Pine Meadow golf course as we know it today first opened for play in 1985. The current course was designed by Joseph L. Lee and Rocky Roquemore.
But there is a history to the land. Let's go back to 1921. It was in that year that St. Mary of the Lake Seminary began on land donated by the Edward Hines Lumber Company. The first class was ordained in 1927.
The original course was nine holes on 80 acres laid out in 1924 by Cardinal Mundelein. The course was expanded to 18 holes in 1929 because the Cardinal's doctor told him he had to walk. He took up golf and played wearing his black topcoat and black fedora. The town was originally called Area, but was changed to Mundelein in 1924 to honor the Cardinal. The total area of the seminary and course is about 1,000 acres, with the golf course consisting of 220 acres.
The 18-hole 1929 course was designed by William Flynn of Toomey and Flynn of Philadelphia. In 1985, Joe and Frank Jemsek leased the course from the Archdiocese of Chicago. They hired Joe Lee, Rocky Roquemore and Joe Jemsek to remodel it. Several million dollars later the course opened to the public as Pine Meadow Golf Club. In 1986 Pine Meadow golf course was named the Best New Public Course by Golf Magazine and continues to be ranked among the top 10 public access courses in Illinois..
Pine Meadow is a picturesque course with 86 sand and 3 grass bunkers, 220,000 square feet of tees and greens and 250-year old oak trees, 60-foot tall pines, maples and shagbark hickory trees border fairways. The course is regarded as a fair test of golf skills for any golfer,

Fairways and greens were in excellent shape. Layout is good and I really liked the feel of the course. A bit on the high side for price but worth playing at least once a year. Definately worth it if you can find a discount.

A first rate golf course. Would like to see the greens firmer and faster. Plenty of staff at the club, but none really too friendly.

abrasive staff; greens were real bad; pace of play not good; way over-priced

Great course. A tad pricey but worth it. Large fairway landing areas. Greens have been a bit rough but overall it's in good shape. Definitely worth playing again.
